System Specs: Windows XP Service Pack 3 x86 (I know, I know it's very outdated)
Default Browser: Firefox 43.0.1 (Most recent)
Hello ... Just recently downloaded and extracted the 1.10 version. When I try to compile any of the examples, I get the following message in my browser window:
"Can't connect to server at 127.0.0.1:9080"
And when I close the IDE I get this message:
"An error has been detected in the IDE!
Error: Invalid Memory Address
IDE Build on 12/20/2015[6:13] by Fred
Branch: Revision: 1724"
The error with the IDE only occurs if I try to compile something. Loading an example file and not compiling it allows the IDE to close properly with no error.
I do have version 1.02 working correctly and did extract the newest version to it's own separate folder to be sure that it didn't conflict. I don't remember doing anything special when I installed the 1.02 version earlier but I am old ... Ha! Any help would be appreciated or if you have more questions then please let me know ... Thanks so much!
Bruce
Version 1.10 x86 ... Can't connect to server & IDE crash
Re: Version 1.10 x86 ... Can't connect to server & IDE crash
Can you try to disable your antivirus if any ? Also, you could check if the 'sbmoongose' process is running when compiling a program. The crash of the IDE is wierd, does someone else experience the same ?
Re: Version 1.10 x86 ... Can't connect to server & IDE crash
Here is an update following your suggestions. Temporarily disabled my antivirus (Avast) and tried compiling one of the example files again. According to the task manager, "sbcompiler.exe" is running but the "sbmongoose.exe" is not shown. I navigated to the "compilers" folder and tried manually starting the "sbmongoose.exe" by double clicking it but it displayed the following error message:
"E:\Spider_1.10_Full\SpiderBasic\Compilers\sbmongoose.exe is not a valid win32 application"
Again all this was done with the antivirus turned off. I CAN double-click and run the "sbmongoose.exe" inside the older version of SpiderBasic (it opens a CLI window) but even with that now running, I still get the same errors when I try to compile from the IDE of the newest version . My firewall is just the basic one that comes with Windows.
Fred I hope that helps and thanks!

Re: Version 1.10 x86 ... Can't connect to server & IDE crash
it seems, there is something wrong with your installation. Try to download & install (without AV) SB again.bmon wrote:"E:\Spider_1.10_Full\SpiderBasic\Compilers\sbmongoose.exe is not a valid win32 application"

Re: Version 1.10 x86 ... Can't connect to server & IDE crash
Thank you Peter for your suggestions but still not working on Windows XP. Tried downloading from Firefox browser as well as the Chrome browser but it's the same problem. I did download onto a Windows 7 computer and it is working there. So I guess it's just one of those things ...
Thanks Fred and Peter for your help ...

Re: Version 1.10 x86 ... Can't connect to server & IDE crash
May be you can try copying a working sbmoongose.exe to XP to see if it fixes it.
Re: Version 1.10 x86 ... Can't connect to server & IDE crash
Thank you Fred. I did copy an older version of sbmongoose.exe to the newer folder and now things are working. It looks like there are two different sized versions of sbmongoose.exe. The older one that comes with SpiderBasic 1.02 is 158k as opposed to the newer version one which is 174k.
Thanks again everyone for the help ... Bruce
