Assembloids #GO!

Post by MrTAToad »

Here is a quick preview of my Assembloids #GO! game : http://blurg.org/assembloids_go/assembloids_go.html. This is based off my SDL2 game (http://blurg.org/sdl2/SDL2%20Development.rar, which in turn was based off the C64 game 'Assembloids' (http://www.rgcd.co.uk/2013/02/assembloids-c64-2013.html), which in turn was based off the game 'Quartet' (http://www.photonstorm.com/games/quartet)

Still a lot of work to be done, both with my processing system (Triority) and the actual game (the least of which is that some graphics dont have transparencies). The credits have to be added too (although they are currently just Music (Cute): http://www.bensound.com/royalty-free-music and Graphics (Kenney or http://www.kenney.nl) and Nicholas Kingsley)

But the game does work (the two player mode should more or less work too). I do need to put in a control system choice as well.

I've tried to use graphics instead of words as much as possible, and not using GUI for the menu options - I'm sort of toying with converting the game back to the C64 and RISCOS (neither of which has a GUI system available for games).

Its coming one quite well :

http://blurg.org/assembloids_go/assembloids_go.html

The rules for full screen mode seem to have changed (Firefox for example now only allow it if done in an event), so I'm going to have to completely re-write the options section...

Still no music or sound effects for the main game yet.

Very fun to play, i like puzzle games.

one thing tho, since you get random pieces you cant really play tactical. It would be better if you saw 3 or less pieces in a line so you could plan where to set the pieces in what container.

I tried 2 strategies:
A. just play the game and didnt care about the patterns it gave me: 225 points
B. care about the patterns: 305

Luckily you get extra lives with plan B :P

And indeed mouse interactions with menu doesnt work really well.

Glad you like it! Another suggestion I had was to make sure that there was always a graphic that could be placed somewhere, which is a good idea.

I second that. You only lose lives if you cant play the tiles.
You have plenty of time to place the tile. Maybe make some hardcore mode where you only have 3 sec (more or less) for placing tiles :P
